It is confidence in our bodies, minds and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures, new directions to grow in, and new lessons to learn – which is what life is all about.” – Oprah Winfrey
TRELLIS THE SPA (Houston, Texas)
Trellis The Spa is a Four-Star spa located in Houston, Texas. This is a great adventure for the solo traveler, who just wants a day of pampering and relaxation away from the rush of big city life. The Spa is an oasis in the heart of Houston’s Galleria area and is situated in the 18-acres of manicured wooded resort the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. The menu of over 100 services includes facials, hands and feet treatments, body treatments, tanning, massages, hair services, professional makeup and more.
My sister and I enjoyed the spa amenities include an indoor co-ed float pool, full service locker room with separate jetted tub, steam rooms, rainfall shower including complimentary bath and hair products. While waiting for manicure and pedicures, we sipped complimentary juices, herbal tea, coffee, and flavored water.
We completed our spa “mini” vacation in the Tranquility room, which I highly recommend for any spa visitor. This comfortable upstairs lounge is lite by a fireplace. Two waterfall fountains add to the relaxation in this space. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself napping in the comfy chaise chairs. Soaking up the pure bliss of this quiet room helps restore your balance and perspective.
Services should be scheduled in advance.

SPA AT CHATEAU ELAN (Braselton, Georgia)
A ninety (90) minute drive from Atlanta, the Spa at Chateau Elan, is another oasis from the hustle and bustle of the big city. This is a great adventure for the solo traveler, who just wants a day of pampering and relaxation. You can also stay overnight in the guest suites inside a 35,000 sq. ft mansion overlooking a sparkling lake or drive up for a day spa “mini” vacation amongst the canopied forest of trees, emerald green lawns and flowering shrubs.
My sister and I love to go here for a “mini” day away vacation. This is also where we held my sister’s bachelorette party. It is a great place to rejuvenate and refresh in a European style spa, which seeks to promote serenity and relaxation. A Spa Day pass is my favorite. This pass allows you to enjoy the Spa Facilities including fitness classes, full service locker rooms, nature trail, indoor pool, jetted tubs, steam showers, and complimentary flavored water for $50 (Monday-Thursday) and $100 (Friday-Sunday). Of course, you can also choose from a full-service spa menu of services.
I am always looking for a comfy spot to take a nap on my travel adventures, whether long or short. The quiet room in the Spa is on my top 5 list of spots to take a nap while on vacation and is a great place to spend some time in between spa services in the quiet room.
Fleur-de-Lis is also a "must do" as part of your spa experience. This sunny dining room overlooking the lake and gazebo and Chateau Elan Span is where I first experienced the delights of a spa lunch in my comfy robe and slippers (kind of like breakfast in bed in your most comfy P.J.'s, but better) with a glass of wine from the Chateau Winery. Dine on gourmet breakfasts and lunch dishes using healthy ingredients or afternoon tea served with marvelous low-cal desserts.
